The New York Boat Show usually takes place over nine days in December, but the show shifted to January this year in the hopes of attracting more buyers.

Plenty of boat shows this month, here is another boat show update. The 105th New York Boat Show is taking over the Javits Center through Sunday. It’s the perfect destination for buyers and dreamers alike, featuring more than 1,000 of the newest and best boats.

The boat show usually takes place over nine days in December, but the show shifted to January this year in the hopes of attracting more buyers. The show is only being held for five days this time around, so the pressure is on to sell.

An interesting tidbit – 76 percent of the boats out there are owned by families with a household income under $100,000. So while you might think of boating as an activity for the wealthy, it is more affordable than that.

Tickets are $12 for adults. Kids 15 and under are free.

Click here to visit NYBoatShow.com for details about the boat show.

Another great site for those who are just getting started in boating and need expert tips is DiscoverBoating.com.

The Central Florida Boat Show annually attracts thousands of boating enthusiasts. This year's show will feature the latest in 2010 model-year boats, accessories, marine electronics and more.

Here is an update for the 43rd Annual Central Florida Boat Show runs March 5-7 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

“Over the last 18 months, marine dealers have survived some of the most challenging times the recreational marine industry has ever seen,” said Roy Parker, president of the Central Florida Marine Trades Association and owner of Parker Boats, in a statement.

“With the economy now expanding, dealers in Central Florida can’t afford not to exhibit at this year’s Central Florida Boat Show. With more than 187,000 square feet of exhibit space, there’s no better area venue to meet with thousands of boating enthusiasts and prospective customers,” he added.

The Central Florida Boat Show annually attracts thousands of boating enthusiasts. This year’s show will feature the latest in 2010 model-year boats, accessories, marine electronics and more.

The Central Florida Marine Trades Association plans to promote the show through a comprehensive marketing and public relations effort promoting the fact that for anyone interested in buying a boat, this year’s show offers a historic opportunity to make a great deal. Don’t miss the Central Florida Boat Show, for more information; Click here for the full release.

“This is a great show,” said Shawn Bannon sales representative for Navy Point Yachts, dealers for Jeanneau and Island Packet. “We sold two boats; one used, one new. This is a show of qualified buyers. You always sell a boat at this show!”
“We can credit selling two boats from this show” stated Ryan Wheeler, sales manager for Skyline Marina. “And we’ve made some great contacts and have solid leads we can follow up on”.
Over 75 boats – new and used, power and sail – were on the docks and on the hard this past weekend at Port Credit Harbour Marina in Mississauga. Visitors were able to view boats ranging from inflatables to large cruisers. In the grand tent, were marine exhibits including displays by Furuno, Services Canada, Lee Sails, SailTime and Robertson and Robertson Insurance, to name a few.
“We were absolutely delighted with the show this year” said Lori Mason show manager. The dealers and brokers supported us, the media were here, the crowds came – even the weather co-operated. We are pumped and ready for next year’s show!”
The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show celebrates its 20th anniversary next year. The show is planned for August 27, 28, and 29th 2010 at the Port Credit Harbour Marina. www.portcreditboatshow.ca

Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway bringing you Bayliner Parts along with news and views from the boating industry. Here is an update from the Greater Philadelphia Boat Show.

Despite the weak economy, boat dealers are hoping to lure customers with discounted prices this weekend at the Greater Philadelphia Boat Show in Oaks, Pa.

One of the higher end boats at the show a 30′ Bayliner 300 cruiser.

Gary Wimmer of Highway Marine Services in Quakertown, Pa. took me for on a tour. It has two engines, sleeps four comfortably inside the cabin, and has a galley area, a shower, even a flat screen TV.

He says if you’re in the market for a boat, there a great deals to be had:

“The boat normally sells for $133,000, and with the extra discounts that we are giving at the show along with a promotion from the factory — it’s worth about $6,000 on that boat — it gets the boat down to $108,000.”

And there’s even entertainment. You can meet Twiggy, the waterskiing squirrel. Lou Ann Best (above) is Twiggy’s trainer. She says a remote-controlled speedboat pulls the squirrel in a pool whose water is heated to 85 degrees:

“You know, we do a little show. I have Progressive Insurance as a sponsor. We promote water safety, boating safety, and also their boating insurance. “and the bushy-tailed star had to have her say: (sound of Twiggy squeaking)

The show runs through Sunday at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks (Montgomery County), Pa. Thanks to KYW’s John McDevitt, KYW Newsradio 1060 Philadelphia – Greater Philadelphia Boat Show is Underway Through Sunday

What is behind the trend to make boating greener? One reason could be the tough economy. Environmentally friendly practices could help broaden the appeal of boating to new customers.

Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway bringing you Bayliner Parts and Bayliner Boats along with news and views from the boating industry. Here is an update from the Jackson Boat, Sport and Travel Show.

Heavy Weight Promotions brings the Jackson Boat, Sport and Travel Show and the Jackson RV Show back to the Carl Perkins Civic Center and the Jackson Fairgrounds to celebrate its 23rd anniversary from February 20-22. Boat, RV and ATV dealers from three states converge in Jackson, Tennessee to offer attendees a sneak preview of their new line of watercrafts, recreational vehicles and an assortment of “big boy toys.”

Beat the winter-time blues and shop for your upcoming summer fun! Choose from Bayliner Boats bass boats, pontoon boats, ski boats, deck boats, jon boats, fishing boats, personal watercraft, duck hunting boats, crappie rigs, small cabin cruisers, 5th wheels, pop-ups, pull-behinds, motor homes, ATVs, mules and more!

A variety of vendors from over a dozen states offer tackle, hunting supplies, accessories, resort destinations, marine accessories and repair and an emporium of shopping choices. Something that the entire family is sure to enjoy.

Catch the schedule of events to “hook up” with your favorite pro or seminar topic, meet “Miss Tennessee” for autographs and photo opportunity, or enjoy a selection of attractions. Features and Attractions gives a brief description of the pro and his/her topic, or about the attraction so you can visit the schedule and plan your weekend with us! Bayliner Parts – Bayliner Boats thanks; Tennessee’s Official State Gem – the freshwater pearl
