Recent news out of Boating Industry Canada on Mercury Marine Canada and Land ’N’ Sea Canada.

April 7th, 2009 Mercury Marine Canada and Land ’N’ Sea Canada announced a new business model that will integrate the two companies under a single business entity. This new integrated business will maintain the identities of the two companies while consolidating all functional areas of the business under Mercury Marine Canada. The integration will result in a streamlining of operations, the elimination of business complexity, and position the company to be more responsive to the Canadian marketplace.

“This new business model will bring new value and service to both our Mercury Marine and Land ’N’ Sea customers in Canada,” said Mark Schwabero, President of Mercury Marine. “It will allow us to offer a wider variety of marine parts & accessories to our current dealers and customers, while expanding our distribution and offerings into areas of the country that we previously did not service.”

This new entity will merge the operations of the two companies under the leadership of Georges Jalbert, General Manager of Mercury Marine Canada. “Mercury Marine Canada and Land ’N’ Sea Canada have shared the same office and warehouse space for the past year, and this integration will allow us to offer our customers the fastest and most cost effective line of parts & accessories in Canada” stated Georges Jalbert.

“Our goal is to be able to enhance our customer’s businesses and create opportunities for our dealers and partners to further grow and
profit from our integration. We are very excited about the future and look forward to optimizing our operations and achieving this important goal.”

Mercury Marine Canada and Land ’N’ Sea are both divisions of Mercury Marine Limited, and will continue to operate out of the new facility that they moved to in Milton, Ontario in December of 2008. Mercury Marine has restructured the senior levels of the Mercury organization under new President Mark Schwabero.

Although the restructuring, coinciding with Mark Schwabero’s new role as President of Mercury Marine is ongoing, we can report to his many friends and associates that Canadian, Randy Caruana is now the Vice President, Sales for the Americas.  The other appointments reporting directly to Mark are listed below:

Bayliner Parts have news that Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) today named Mark D. Schwabero, 55, president of Mercury Marine, the world’s largest manufacturer of marine engines. Schwabero most recently led the outboard business at the Brunswick unit, and in his new capacity, will continue to report to Dustan E. McCoy, Brunswick’s chairman and chief executive officer.

"Since joining
Mercury Marine in 2004, Mark has been an integral member of
a management team that has secured Mercury's position as the industry leader
in technology, quality and operational excellence," said McCoy.

"Mercury has been at the forefront of marine-engine manufacturing since
the company's inception in 1939, and that tradition will carry on under Mark's
leadership as Mercury products will continue to meet the evolving demands of
discriminating and ecology-minded consumers," McCoy added.

Schwabero will lead a seasoned and successful management team that will
include
Kevin S. Grodzki and
Stephen M. Cramer.  This trio had most recently
been jointly leading Mercury.  "We are fortunate to have had such an
experienced and cohesive management team in place at Mercury," explained
McCoy.  "Mark, Kevin and Steve have each played key roles in shaping and
executing the strategies and day-to-day conduct in elevating Mercury's
performance.  Going forward, we will continue to benefit from their combined
and complementary expertise in advancing Mercury's industry leadership
position by fostering innovation, introducing new products to the marketplace,
and further expanding its growing international presence."

Schwabero joined Mercury in 2004 with 28 years experience as a senior
executive in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries. During that
time, he had leadership positions in such companies as Hendrickson
International,
Pilkington Libbey-Owens-Ford, Bosch Braking Systems North
America, and Navistar International.  Schwabero holds both a bachelor's of
science degree and master's of science degree in industrial and systems
engineering from Ohio State University, where he was recognized with the
University's Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1991 and a Meritorious Service
Award in 2008.

My friend had a mercury outboard and had the same problem, he contacted a dealer and they told him it was on an aluminium core plug on the side of the block, his was a more powerful model though so not sure if this will help you, check it out anyway, it may be correct for your engine.

You will find the model and serial number
of the Johnson and Evinrude outboard
motors on the transom bracket of the
engine.

Model numbers for Chrysler and Sea King
Engines are under the hood below the
carburetors. Force model and serial numbers
are on the transom bracket of the engine.
