I just bought a 1995 bayliner 1854 boat and took it out for the first time. At first the trim went down fine and would move up by just using the trim up button on the throttle, but when i reloaded it the trim up button didn’t bring the outdrive up, so i had to use the trailer button to bring the outdrive all the way up. Any suggestions on what could be wrong or what could be done to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your trim up button will only bring your drive up part way.If it is doing this it is working properly. To raise your drive up to the top you must use the trailer button. If your trim button is not working there could be a couple of things wrong with it.There is a trim limit switch on the out-drive that may not be working,
or it could be the switch in the handle. To check the switch you will need a 12 volt test light.Check the wire coming out of the switch for power when you push the switch. No power bad switch. If you have power you can check the sender at the stern of the boat where the 2 wires come through the transom
to the pump.Un-plug 1 wire and have someone push the switch to see if there is power. If there is no power the trim limit sender on your out-drive needs to be replaced.I hope this
helps you fix your problem.Good luck.

It's working correctly. It will go all the way down on the down switch. But while underway it has a limit of up travel. The trailer switch overrides the limiter, so it goes to the trailering position.
