another question about mercury marine??

i have a alpha drive and an inline 6 cyl mercruiser.im installing this on another boat, where should the cavatation plate be in relation to the bottom of the boat????

Every hull is different. What you are looking for is the X dimension. Was there a motor and drive installed in the boat before. There is a formula for figuring the X dimension. I would have a look at the same hull that has been rigged. This will give you an idea where to cut out the transom for the drive.

level of the bottom of the boat,or just above the prop and fore ward of it is better as you don't want any air sucked in to the prop.
