1989 125 hp force outboard over heat alarm goes off after hours of running it starts when i idle 4 a few mins.
impeller fits snug in housing, shaft has alittle wear in the area,
thermstat seems to work
the t-stats on those engines has been a recurring problem here. what does "seems" mean? take it out and put it in water to the working temp. and see if it opens.

Do you operate in shallow water, churning the bottom at times? Ports through the block may be full of sediment or sand. I had this happen once. You will get good water pressure but poor flow through the block. PITA to clean out!
