Bayliner produced thousands of boats using OMC drives, over about a 5 year span. Then they switched to mercruser. Many of these old boats are sitting around marinas and backyards. My advise would be to pick-up a used boat, and use it for parts, or use yours for parts. I think $500. to $1500 sounds about right for boats of this age.
References :
OMC stopped manufacturing outdrives many years ago. You will not find a new one. You may be able to purchase a rebuilt one. Here's a site that offers lower unit and other help.

http://www.sterndrive.info/omc_help_page.html
http://www.sterndrive.info/800_lower_repair_cost.html

If you have a bad drive unit they may be able to help you fix it.

I would not invest much money in this boat. In good working condition it is worth under $1500.00.
References :
In all honesty...I would not put ANY money in this boat. For what you want it is going to be pricey and I would definately not put that into a Bayliner. Just my 2 cents.
