Why is there brown water coming out of my boats exhaust?

I have a 1979 bayliner admiralty br 2050 volvo penta 280 outdrive. Got boat after it had been sitting for a year got it runing and it runs great. But when I give it gas the water out of exhaust is brown maybe from sitting so long idont know?

Hopefully, it is probably just rust and if your boat is otherwise running good, it should clear up soon. If not of course, you should have it looked at.

this is rust particles (like sediment) that has collected in the cooling system, and engine block this is why engines need to be flushed(especially when used in salt water) before they are "put up" for the winter. you can flush this system with a garden hose and it should clear up, or it should actually clear up on its own after being operated for awhile.
