Huge Discounts on Bayliner Cruisers in Florida Panhandle

Bayliner 340 Crusier
Hi gang, Rick Ostler here from North American Waterway bringing you Bayliner Parts and Bayliner Boats along with news and views from the boating industry. Here is a news report out of Florida on Marine dealers in the Panhandle area.
Marine dealers in the Panhandle are reporting, for the second straight year, that boat sales are stuck in the doldrums. “It’s going to have its ups and downs, but this is the first down we’ve had where we didn’t know whether we were going to see the end,” said Darrell Robinson, owner of Harbor View Marine on Bayou Chico. “You’ve still got some scared people who don’t want to buy anything new.” Nationwide, boat sales are down 40 percent from last year, and local boat dealers are feeling the crunch.
Robinson said some boat manufacturers are offering deep discounts to help drive sales. The price of admission can be high, but the discounts are significant — as much as $40,000 off a $200,000 Bayliner Boat Crusier.
Jack Wills, owner of Wills Marine of Pensacola on Barrancas Avenue in Pensacola, said that in a good year, they’ll sell about 20 boats. Boat sales account for about 25 percent of their profit, Wills said, but so far this year, they haven’t sold a single one. At least two local marine dealers have gone out of business in recent months, including Doc’s Marine on Pine Forest Road, and Northwest Florida Marine on Pensacola Boulevard.
The busy season for boaters runs from late February through October, and maintenance and parts departments at area marine dealers are seeing an uptick in business so far this year. “This year I see a lot more people using their boats.” For marine dealers, that means more people bringing boats in for maintenance and service. Wills said that parts and repair, which account for about 70 percent of his business, are up from this time last year, as people elect to repair old boats rather than buy new.
“It’s starting to turn around now and we’re seeing the light.” Wills said even though the economy is struggling, getting time on the water is a luxury many Panhandle residents aren’t willing to let go without a fight.
Campbell said he has deep-sea fished in the Gulf for years, but he sold his last boat seven or eight years ago, and was looking to buy a new one so he could get back into the hobby. Campbell said that, except for a few months when gas was over $4 a gallon, he’d been shopping for a boat for the last two years. Force outboard problems?
I'm rebuilding a 1990 force 5 HP outboard. I'm not getting spark to the plug. Any ideas?
yes, you'd be better off taking it to a shop. there are 3 or 4 pieces in the firing system. if you try to change them all you'll spend more money than it is worth.
